when she arr. in Sydney.
Had 3 children to Robert ? (a gentleman of Ashfield) bef. she married
SFC K No.1 - rumoured to be Chipperfield, well known cricketer.
Her photo (& father Charles, mother Sophia, young Annie) found in shoe
box, home of dtr Hannah,in 1999. (3x2 yellowed, into 6x4, not v good.)

d. 13 Jul 1935. A Mead descendant told the story that
long ago her mother (Eliza) had told her that Jane's father
Robert X was Robert Chipperfield, grandfather of the well known test
cricketer of the 1920's/1930's, Arthur Chipperfield (this is only
hearsay).
Jane was described as being a lovely person, she looked after SFC
Kirchner snr. after his wife Mary died.
Jane must have gained ownership of her grandfather's home at 23 John
Street, Ashfield as it was mentioned in her Will. The house was
originally bequeathed to her step-brother Samuel, but according to
family hearsay Jane was very good to her grandfather during his
latter years, so perhaps an agreement was made that she should have
the house.
John:
Arrived Brisbane with parents 2 Aug 1865 on “Helene”.
The family name was Ruggles or Ruggli, changed to Ruckley as Ruggli
was hard to pronounce. He was the only son. The family came from
Bischofszell in Switzerland. John's father Johann was a miller.

attack when she was grabbed around the throat. Now have Death Cert.

Mary:
M J McDonald told Les Foubister years ago that she and a sister to
her mothers 2nd marriage (?) were fostered out when her dad died.
Mary Jane's name was Marion Janet and she had hard life in foster
homes (farms near Dubbo) - even had to eat chook food.Was very thin.

Henry:
H Swinfield was a tinsmith, he & his wife separated long bef.they died,
she at Katoomba, & he at Maitland. Henry's parents John Swinfield
1831-1899 & Ellen (nee Burroughs) 1834-1909 owned land where part of
Rookwood Cemetery stands. As a provision in sale of his land, he was
buried just inside the old Mausoleum Gates at Rookwood Stat. where his
farm stood.
